Robby Copeland

(Robby) Robby Copeland is PopCanon's new drummer!

[Neditor, Nov. 2001: Umm, I meant to update this page about 4 years ago, since Robby joined. But it's kind of funny this way...]

(Thanks to Curt, Randy, Squeaky Steve and Angie for playing with us in the interim.) Robby is so new to the band that we don't have up-to-date pictures of him yet, but here are a couple of slightly older ones that will give you some idea of our new motorbikin' thriller of a drummer.

(Robby) Here, Robby explains the circumstances that led him to join PopCanon:

I started playing the drums when I was 14 years old because my father had a drumset in the attic and there was this drum fill on a Youth of Today album that I had to learn. I would listen to Jane's Addiction, YOT and Youth Brigade while pounding along in the garage. I would play for hours.

When I was 16 years old my bandmates and friends rented some office space to play in and hang out. That's where I spent almost every night of my high school career. We wrecked that place! There were 20 renters, all in different bands and all close friends. We would have huge jam sessions, just running around and being crazy. Our landlord was a drunk VietNam vet who was always threatening to violently kick our asses. It was kinda funny!

This massive bulge of enjoyment went on for years...

Then, one night after coming home from the practice space, I was sitting in my room listening to music when I suddenly went into some sort of time freeze. I don't know how long it lasted because I couldn't measure it by timing because time was FROZEN! Frozen, don't you get it?!

Anyway, in the middle of this time freeze I was telepathically connected to the planet Arcturus where the people of Arcturus told me that death was life, that all the people on the earth were all connected making one consciousness, that love was the feeling of infinity, that being spontaneous was the most pure and natural way to be, and that I was meant to play the drums for PopCanon.

So I graduated high school, moved to Gainesville, and after a year I joined PopCanon.

[Here's two pictures of Robby breakdancing, his mastery of which impressed us enough to have him join the band.]
